Perseverance Under Dark Clouds Brunswick Street, Fitzroy Victoria

I was immediately struck by the grand darkness of Hotel Perseverance, a proclamation of persistence in the face of challenges. As an artist this resonates with me deeply, the need to keep facing up to the difficulties of life amongst the joys, the deep sea of emotions and financial realities.

I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their deep connection to land, sea and community and pay respect to Elders past, present and future.

Cate Rose is an artist and author based in Fremantle, Western Australia.  Her celebrated art book 'Fremantle - City of Colour;  an artist's celebration of the old port city' is a series of paintings of her home town was published in 2010.
