Gorman Christmas Scrubs ‘Fairy Penguins Beach Christmas’
Le Venezie International Watercolour Festival 2024
Cate Rose exhibiting her watercolour painting “Canareggio Explorer’ at the Le Venezie International Watercolour Festival in Italy in November 2024. ‘Canareggio Explorer’ was selected as a Finalist by a panel of 9 respected international judges. Her piece received an ‘Honorary Mention’ from the panel & was exhibited at the beautiful Palazzo dei Trecento in the Veneto, Italy. She joined artists from around the world, exhibiting the best of contemporary watercolour practices.

I was very excited to be announced as a winner of the ‘Design our Christmas Scrubs’ competition for Australian contemporary fashion brand Gorman recently! I wear lots of their beautiful brightly coloured clothes so the competition was a perfect fit!! Part of my prize is to choose a hospital to donate 20 pairs of scrubs as well!! I
hope my happy little Aussie Fairy penguins celebrating their traditional beach Christmas will bring some extra special festive spirit to their wearers and patients!
The scrubs are currently in production and I will post again when they are released!!
New arrival at the Staircase Gallery
National Hotel Fremantle
Although I did paint the National Hotel for my book it has been beautifully restored since so I recently painted it again to celebrate. The new artwork shows off its glorious balconies reinstated as part of the restoration. What a joy! So much life in this gorgeous old pub. Printed on archival watercolour paper this newly framed piece is an absolute steal! Or perhaps there is another iconic Fremantle place that takes your fancy like the Fremantle Markets (sold last week but now replaced) or Kailis and Cicerellos at Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour. Climb the stairs to the first floor to browse the gallery at 98 High Street and stop for some refreshments!

I’ve been hibernating since Covid and I’m working on getting out there again. Anybody else still dragging themselves away from comfy safe spaces since the outbreak of the pandemic? Such an amazing reception to ‘Emergence’ at the Moores Contemporary Art Gallery in Fremantle these past two weeks. Thanks to my fellow exhibiting artists, Suzanne Lawson, Sarah Abbott, Larissa Ngyuen, Marion LeCrayon and Alex Kyriacis and to my buyers. It means so much to me. It was a huge effort to put on the exhibition but the result was something to be proud of.
